Accelerated Resolution Therapy:
Keep the Knowledge! Lose the Pain!

ART

INTENSIVES

What is ART?

Developed by Laney Rosenzweig, MS, LMFT, in 2008, ART was inspired by EMDR. Accelerated Resolution Therapy, also known as ART, is a style of psychotherapy that incorporates concepts from other therapeutic modalities.

ART is designed to lessen the impact of trauma and other psychological stresses on the client. This method, which employs rapid eye movements (bi-laterals) and picture rescripting, attempts to recondition stressful memories by altering the way they are stored in the brain to improve overall well-being in a relatively short time. This therapy reshapes how troubling and sometimes intrusive memories are stored in the brain.

The work of ART is to Keep the Knowledge and Lose the Pain. When unpleasant processed memories are merged with positive experiences, the intrusiveness, triggers, and cognitions of the unpleasant diminishes significantly.

ART Technique

In experiencing ART, you may find that you connect pieces of information that are already stored in your memory to help you resolve your issues. The brain focuses on the troubling problem, eye movements create some calm and then the brain can make new connections with your strengths and problem-solving abilities.

You will experience distress in session; however, it will pass and you will not be alone in the work.

No need to discuss and/or disclose details of the trauma unless you choose.

Structure
